Better late than never…Landroids has decided to sign up for the international Moonbots challenge with an upcoming Phase 1 deadline of May 28, 2010!
MoonBots is a Google Lunar X PRIZE LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Challenge. It is a joint venture between The X PRIZE Foundation, Google Inc., LEGO Systems, National Instruments, and Wired’s GeekDad, to create an unique educational program for youth-adult teams to develop innovative systems that are capable of performing a simulated lunar mission. This contest will challenge small teams of 4 to 6 people to design, program, and construct robots that perform simulated lunar missions similar to those required to win the $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE (a private race to the Moon designed to enable commercial exploration of space while engaging the global public). We just can’t pass over this exciting youth version of the X PRIZE challenge, while learning more about the new Moon Race.
Between the Moonbots and eCYBERMISSION national competitions, plus various events we had previously committed to attend and host, our team will be taxed to the max in the next several weeks before the school is over. As usual, we are up to challenging our ability to learn new knowledge and work hard. Look forward to many more late nights and pizza dinners.
