For FLL Team Training
Dear FLL teams, (for Thai translation)
This page contains documents which include more than 300 slides of training presentations that were used as part of the FLL new team orientation training during the summer of 2009 conducted by the FIRST LEGO League team Landroids, from Livingston, New Jersey, USA
While Landroids has been in the FIRST LEGO League for only two years, going onto our third season with the “Smart Move” challenge, we have gathered a lot of award winning experiences by participating in the World Festival in 2008 and the US Open Championship in 2009. The “Smart Move” season will be our last FLL season. Our focus this year is to compile what we have learned and pass it on to other FLL teams, so that more children (and coaches) can enjoy the FLL challenge and excel in the competitions, without the frustration of figuring out how and where to get started.
With that mission in mind, at least 40 hours were invested by each of the five Landroids members in the summer of 2009 to conduct an ambitious and unusual “Kids teaching Kids” FLL orientation to eight new teams in New Jersey. The presentations were based on each member’s experiences and specialties. Each person had to research and compile their own PowerPoint slides, design interactive team activities, rehearse and conduct the 2-hour workshop. The 5-weeks, 10-hours orientation sessions covered a total of 8 different topics in details.
The contents of these presentations were targeted for teams in New Jersey. Some of the topics or tournament locations noted may not be applicable to the competition in your region. However, most of the details and information are still relevant and valuable.
As a result of a collaborative effort between Team Landroids, Livingston Robotics Club, and organizer of FLL Thailand 2009, we made Landroids’ presentations also available in Thai. We believe that the presentations can be helpful for new FLL teams in Thailand to prepare for the upcoming competitions, reduce the learning curve and have a better understanding of the essential elements needed to succeed in FLL.
On behalf of Team Landroids and Livingston Robotic Club, we wish you best of luck in this season. Most importantly, have fun!
